Red Hat Introduces JBoss Certified Developer Program

New certifications extend industry-leading program to Java developers using JBoss Enterprise Middleware

Raleigh, NC - Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, announced this morning the launch of the JBoss Certified Developer (JBCD) program, a certification that validates skill and expertise in JBoss-specific technologies and development standards. The JBCD program will offer multiple specialized credentials earned by passing rigorous, hands-on practical exams.

“Offering a certification based on a real word, hands-on exam does more than just provide developers with a validation of their experience in a given field of middleware technology,” said Randy Russell, director of certification at Red Hat. “It also allows IT managers to better gauge developer readiness for projects and provides consulting and IT companies with a clear way of showing technical expertise to potential customers.”

The first credential to be offered will be JBoss Certified Developer in Persistence (JBCD-Persistence), which will indicate that the certification holder has demonstrated real-world skills using the Java Persistence API (JPA) with Hibernate, an open source object-relational mapping framework for Java.

JBCD is the only fully performance-based certification program for Java developers. All JBCD certifications will be earned by passing hands-on exams in which candidates create and modify code in a timed setting, making them unique credentials in the industry.

The JBCD-Persistence exam will be available in North America and Europe immediately, but availability may vary by region.
