TestOut Launches Browser-Based LabSim Network+ Training Course

Adds adaptive bit rate technology to give users with lower-bandwidth Internet connections high-quality videos without buffering delays

PLEASANT GROVE, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TestOut Corporation, provider of LabSim IT certification training, today announced that its Network+ course is now available in a browser-based format with high-quality video for even the lowest bandwidth Internet connection. On any PC or Mac with an Internet connection, LabSim Network+ users can experience the same expert video instruction and hands-on, interactive online labs available through the Microsoft Windows®-based LabSim client, without installing any software. As a result, they get greater speed, flexibility and convenience, enabling them to study Network+ in public libraries, airports or even the local Starbucks.

The browser-based Network+ is the first LabSim to use adaptive bit rate streaming, enabling users with lower-bandwidth Internet connections to experience videos without the disruptive stuttering and buffering delays normally experienced streaming video over the Internet. In addition to Network+, the other browser-based LabSim courses—A+ Essentials, A+ Practical Application, and Windows 7—now also have this technology.

“With LabSim training now conveniently accessible through browsers, delivering videos with adaptive bit rate streaming is a must for TestOut to maintain consistent viewing quality for our users,” said Noel Vallejo, CEO, TestOut. “As we roll out more of our LabSim courses in browser-based format over the next year, we’ll continue to offer the highest-quality training experience users expect from LabSim, no matter how it’s delivered.”

Training for CompTIA’s Network+ certification—one of the most sought after certification programs for IT professionals*—prepares learners to manage, maintain, install, configure and operate basic network infrastructures. In addition to the instructor-led videos, LabSim courses include online labs that simulate a physical lab, letting students experiment with realistic, real-world scenarios from their own computer, freely working within a wide variety of virtual environments. In addition, the courses include practice exams that track back to topics on which students need additional work. If taken through an education program, instructors are able to track, evaluate and score every lab exercise and scenario in real time.

Please note that if IT professionals or students earn the Network+ certification (or CompTIA’s A+ or Security+ certification) by December 31, 2010, the certification will last their lifetime. After this date, they must renew the certification every three years.
