(ISC)²® Announces New Hellenic Chapter

Group Aims to Support Local Cyber Security Professionals and to Promote Security Awareness in the Community

Athens, Greece, December 5, 2014 – (ISC)²® (“ISC-squared”), the world’s largest information security professional body and administrators of the CISSP®, today announced the formation of the (ISC)² Hellenic Chapter. (ISC)² Chapters provide opportunities to all seasoned or aspiring information security professionals by connecting them with their peers and mentors, promoting knowledge sharing and networking, and raising security awareness.

(ISC)²’s Chapter Program provides Chapter members the opportunity to give back to their communities and share their expertise through public awareness programs like Safe and Secure Online and mentoring programs like the NextGen: Young Professionals Group. Chapter members can volunteer to visit schools to educate children, parents, and teachers on how to protect themselves online and become responsible digital citizens through the (ISC)² Foundation’s Safe and Secure Online program. They can also volunteer to mentor someone new to or aspiring to join the industry.

“The success and tremendous growth of our Chapter Program is a testament to the needs of information security professionals for support at the local level,” said W. Hord Tipton, CISSP, executive director of (ISC)². “We hope the Hellenic Chapter will provide professionals in Greece the professional development resources and sense of community they’ve been seeking. (ISC)² Chapter members gain the added benefit of a local vehicle to share their expertise with society in order to make the cyber world safer and more secure.”

Other Chapter Program benefits include:
• Participation in co-sponsored events with other industry associations
• Ability to earn continuing professional education (CPE) credits by participating in professional activities
• Engagement in leadership opportunities, such as:
    -Acting as a chapter officer
-Speaking at chapter meetings or special events
• Receiving special discounts on promotional and educational products and events
• Assisting (ISC)² initiatives by writing articles for publication or speaking to university students
