(ISC)²® Foundation Names 2015 Harold F. Tipton Memorial Scholarship Recipient

Clearwater, Fla. – November 2, 2015 – (ISC)²® (“ISC-squared”) Foundation today announced the recipient of its 2015 Harold (“Hal”) F. Tipton Memorial Scholarship: Parker Theisen, SSCP, undergraduate student at Rasmussen College. The Tipton Scholar is selected annually among the recipients of the (ISC)² Undergraduate Scholarships.

The Harold F. Tipton Memorial Scholarship was introduced in 2012 to provide enthusiastic, passionate and aspiring cyber, information, software and infrastructure security professionals with a pathway into the profession. The scholarship was named after the late information security industry pioneer and (ISC)² co-founder, and was established through the support of (ISC)² members and CRC Press and their Taylor & Francis Group. Often referred to as “the grandfather of the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP®),” Hal’s work with (ISC)² as its CBK® committee chair, past president, chief instructor and ambassador, was integral to the formation of (ISC)² and the information security profession.

“I would like to thank everyone involved at the (ISC)² Foundation; the staff, the committee members and the donors for allowing me to be awarded the Harold F. Tipton Scholar for 2015,” says Theisen. “I am extremely honored and still in shock that I was this year's recipient for the award. Once again, a huge thank you to the (ISC)² Foundation for helping me pursue my dreams and gain the education I am after!”

“The fact that Parker has already earned the (ISC)² Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP®) certification speaks volumes to his future potential and his passion for information security,” said Patrick Craven, co-director, (ISC)² Foundation. “He has ambitions to earn his CISSP and master’s degree, which demonstrates his motivation to excel in the industry. We’re pleased to honor him with this memorial scholarship to help carry on the late Hal Tipton’s legacy.”

Undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students all have the opportunity tobuild stable careers in the field of information security through the (ISC)² Foundation’s Information Security Scholarship Program. The scholarship application period for 2016 opens on January 1 for Women’s Scholarships and Faculty Exam Vouchers and February 15 for Graduate and Undergraduate Scholarships.
