(ISC)²® Selected as Finalist for 2014 SC Magazine Awards

CISSP nominated for "Best Professional Certification Program," Education Program nominated for "Best Professional Training Program" for second consecutive year

Clearwater, Fla., U.S.A., November 18, 2013(ISC)²® ("ISC)-squared"), the world's largest information security professional body and administrators of the CISSP®, has been named a 2014 SC Magazine Awards finalist in the "Best Professional Certification Program" for the CISSP and for the second year in a row, "Best Professional Training Program" category for the (ISC)² Education Program. 

"(ISC)² continues to be heavily focused on enhancing and developing the IT security workforce through our education and certification programs," said W. Hord Tipton, CISSP, executive director of (ISC)². "It's an honor to be recognized by SC Magazine for our efforts once again this year. While we are nominated in two separate categories, both nominations are connected to our larger goal of providing information security professionals with the skill sets and knowledge necessary to advance in their careers and provide employers with the security workforce to combat current and future threats." 

Those who hold a CISSP are among an elite group who understand the rigor involved in obtaining the certification. The CISSP exam undergoes continual assessment to meet the ever-evolving needs of today's professionals resulting in fresh content every quarter by (ISC)² members and luminaries. The globally-recognized certification is considered to be the gold standard of certifications for information security competence. 

This year, (ISC)² has increased member accessibility to study tools and brought its educational products more in line with adult learning strategy and sound instructional design theory, providing candidates with a better all-around learning experience while strengthening their knowledge base. Additionally, the organization introduced new educational formats including seminars that provide students a hands-on experience to utilize the knowledge they gain from the classroom environment. The multitude of learning platforms offered by (ISC)² provide students the convenience and accessibility to grow and advance in their careers.

Many talented information security professionals from end-user companies entered the Professional Award category. An expert panel of judges conducted in-depth analysis and considered many factors - such as applicable research, analyst reports and/or product reviews - to narrow down the field of hundreds of submissions to just the top finalists. 

The SC Awards, now in its 17th year, sets the standard for excellence for IT security professionals and products that fend off the myriad of security threats in today's corporate world. The annual awards showcase the best solutions, services and professionals, while recognizing achievement and technical excellence. SC Magazine distinguishes the achievements of security professionals in the field, innovations in the vendor and service provider communities, and the fervent work of government, commercial and nonprofits. 

Winners of this year's SC Awards will be announced at a gala dinner and award ceremony in San Francisco on Feb. 25, 2014.
