TechAmerica Announces California Tech Champions for 2014

Group recognizes five state legislators for their contribution to the state's tech industry


Sacramento, Calif., January 21, 2015 – TechAmerica, the public sector and public advocacy department of CompTIA, today announced its recognition of five California legislators as “Tech Champions” for their consistent leadership and support of the technology industry in the State Legislature.


The Tech Champions for 2014 are:


Senator Jim Beall (D-San Jose)
Assemblymember Ian Calderon (D-Whittier)
Senator Cathleen Galgiani (D-Stockton)
Assemblymember Mike Gatto (D-Los Angeles)
Assembly Republican Leader Kristin Olsen (R-Modesto)


“It is an honor to recognize these individuals for their ongoing commitment to California’s technology industry and their outstanding leadership on legislative issues critical to our members,” said Kara Bush, TechAmerica’s Director of Government Affairs for the Western Region. “California is a leader in tech innovation and employment and technology firms are an important contributor to our state’s economy. Our Tech Champions are strong voices for the technology community in California and are helping to ensure that our industry continues to succeed.”


The Tech Champions award recognizes those legislators who are outstanding advocates for the technology industry in the Legislature and have shown consistent support for this vital economic sector. Since 1991 TechAmerica has been recognizing state legislators for their contributions to the success of high-technology.
