Preparing for the next wave of computing is driving demand for new skills says new BCS Director

25 March 2014 — Enabling IT professionals to meet tomorrow's market challenges and ensuring their computing solutions are the key differentiator in their organisation's success is driving the demand for qualifications and professional IT certifications says Jon Buttriss, who has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of BCS Learning & Development Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Chartered Institute for IT.

Jon says: "Defining the IT team and IT job roles of the future is what many CIOs are currently looking towards to ensure that they can enable growth in their sectors. As a result, we're seeing an increase in demand for our portfolio of professional certifications, especially in business analysis, project management and Agile certifications."

The Institute's recent survey of digital leaders revealed that only 10% of digital leaders felt that their organisation has enough resources to address the management issues and IT trends that their company has prioritised, while 57% said they need enhanced IT skills among their existing workforce.

Previously the MD of Reed Learning Ltd, Jon has 30-years of experience of the information technology, skills and talent development sectors at every level from programming to CEO. He started work as a simulations programmer and moved to Abbey to lead a transformational change, before moving to become part of the management team leading the use of internet learning technology developments at Thomson NETg. Jon has worked in various global board director positions based in Germany, the US and the UK and is well versed in running sales, development and service teams based in all parts of the globe.
