ISC2 and Tokio Marine dR Sign Partnership Agreement to Expand Reach of Certified in Cybersecurity Certification

Tokyo (Nov. 6, 2023)ISC2, the world’s leading nonprofit member organization for cybersecurity professionals, announced its partnership with Tokio Marine dR (President & CEO, Nobuhiro Tsutsumi) as it becomes an ISC2 Official Training Partner. Tokio Marine dR will provide ISC2’s internationally recognized entry-level Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) certification and instructor-led training to its existing and future cybersecurity insurance clients, insurance agents and business partners.

Tokio Marine dR will deliver ISC2’s CC training to its clients and agents as part of its wider strategy to reinforce cyber risk management best practices and boost cybersecurity education across businesses in Japan. Through the provision of the CC program training, Tokio Marine dR aims to reduce cybersecurity risks for its clients by improving cyber risk literacy of those in non-technical roles.

The partnership will further ISC2’s mission to create a safe and secure cyber world by equipping individuals in Japan with essential cybersecurity skills to navigate the evolving threat landscape. Tokio Marine dR will extend the reach of ISC2’s CC program to Japanese employees, including non-cybersecurity and entry-level professionals, providing them with foundational cybersecurity knowledge and skills. The training will provide education across core subject areas such as security principles, business continuity and incident response concepts, ensuring individuals are better equipped to deal with cyber threats affecting their operations.

To commemorate the partnership, the two companies held a signing ceremony on October 25, 2023, at ISC2 Security Congress, an international cybersecurity industry conference held in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.

Certified in Cybersecurity

CC is a globally recognized credential accredited by ISC2, signifying that candidates possess the essential knowledge, skills, and capabilities necessary for entry-level or foundational roles in cybersecurity. This certification is attainable even for individuals without prior related work experience. As of now, more than 36,000 individuals worldwide hold the CC certification.

Background

The frequency of cyberattacks in Japan is on the rise, affecting companies of all sizes and industries indiscriminately. Consequently, there exists a significant deficiency of cybersecurity experts, both in terms of quantity and expertise. The development of these skills is a critical component of human resources.

According to the 2023 ISC2 Cybersecurity Workforce Study, the Asia-Pacific region faces a shortage of around 2.67 million cybersecurity professionals, with Japan, which has the largest number of cybersecurity professionals in the Asia-Pacific region, experiencing a shortfall of approximately 110,000.

“We are delighted to be partnering with ISC2, the world's largest certification body for cybersecurity,” said Tokio Marine dR President and CEO, Nobuhiro Tsutsumi. “Through this collaboration, Tokio Marine dR will offer CC training widely to our clients and concentrate on fostering cybersecurity talent. Through our business activities, we aim to contribute to building a safe cyber environment where companies and the broader society can operate with peace of mind.”

“In an era where the demand for cybersecurity professionals in the Asia-Pacific region far surpasses the available talent, we are delighted to introduce Tokio Marine dR, a team of risk experts, as our new training partner at ISC2,” said ISC2 CEO Clar Rosso, CC. “Through this partnership, we are committed to collaborating closely with Tokio Marine dR to enable them to deliver first-class training and certification opportunities in Japan, to build foundational cybersecurity skills among professionals from all backgrounds. Our collective goal is to contribute to the establishment of a safe and secure cyber landscape.”
