Red Hat Wins 2019 Ford IT Innovation Award

RALEIGH, N.C. (December 10, 2019) — Red Hat, Inc., the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that it has been awarded the prestigious Ford IT Innovation award. In its fourth year, the award showcases Ford's technology partners that have helped it launch new capabilities and services or enhance existing operations.

The Ford IT Innovation Award emphasizes Red Hat's work related to the digital transformation of stateful applications across Ford's hybrid cloud environment, spanning dispersed datacenters and multiple public clouds, as well as Red Hat's leadership in enterprise Kubernetes innovation and its collaboration with Ford Motor Company's technical leaders.

Red Hat is honored to be recognized by Ford for technical and business excellence in helping the company to digitally transform how it delivers production application services. We're proud to have delivered an enterprise Kubernetes platform in Red Hat OpenShift to enable this evolution and look forward to continued collaboration with Ford as they scale further into flexible, hybrid cloud computing.

Over the past year, Ford has been working with Red Hat to move complex, stateful applications to more elastic, cloud-based deployment patterns. Using Red Hat OpenShift 4 running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux CoreOS with Kubernetes Operators automation has enabled Ford to attach its solution to high-performing bare metal deployments and geographically distant datacenters or public clouds.

With this mixture of on-premise, virtual and cloud-based deployments Ford has been able to deliver a more agile and infrastructure-agnostic approach for application services that can be the hardest to transform.

Red Hat OpenShift is the industry's most comprehensive enterprise Kubernetes platform with full-stack automated operations to manage hybrid cloud and multicloud deployments, optimized for developer productivity and frictionless innovation. OpenShift is the trusted enterprise Kubernetes platform, delivering a more secure, supported Kubernetes platform guided by deep open source expertise.

It helps teams have more time and freedom to innovate across hybrid and multicloud environments by delivering automated lifecycle management for containers at each layer down to Linux and decoupling workloads from infrastructure. With OpenShift, developers are empowered to innovate and enhance business value through cloud-native applications.

Chris Wright, senior vice president and chief technology officer (CTO) at Red Hat, accepted the award presented by Jeff Lemmer, chief information officer at Ford on Dec. 6, 2019.
