Microsoft Showcases AI Mini-Certifications at Ignite
Microsoft Learn, the education and certification arm of software colossus Microsoft, made a groundbreaking announcement recently with the launch of Applied Skills credentials, mini-certifications that focus on a single IT skill and its application in the workplace. This week, Microsoft unveiled five Applied skills credentials that target AI-specific skills. The new AI Applied Skills credentials made their initial appearance at Ignite, the annual Microsoft conference that focuses on "what's next in technology." AI definitely fits that description, and the Applied Skills program itself is still essentially brand new. If you're eager to get up to speed on AI job skills, then an assist from the respected and established Microsoft education apparatus is a great jump start.

Reading material plays a strong role in the certification preparation routine of many IT professionals. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Passes Certification Milestone
Database tools made Oracle one of the foremost technology companies in the world, but Oracle, like many tech titans has made a pronounced pivot to cloud technology in recent years. One measure of how pronounced that pivot has been grabbed a headline at the official Oracle University Blog this week: There are now 1 million technology professionals who have earned a certification from the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) certification program. The honor of being the millionth technologist to earn an OCI credential fell to one Darpan Aggarwal, who said of his achievement, "It’s exciting to be honored for this milestone in the growing momentum of OCI. My OCI certifications make a big difference in the value and expertise I bring to clients, and for my career goals."
How Much Do Certified IT Professionals Earn in the State Where You Live?
An always engaging milestone of the Certification Magazine Salary Survey appeared online this week at CertMag.com. The CertMag team compiled its list of the average salary of survey participants who live in different U.S. states. There's not equal participation from every state, so the report of salaries is divided in an A-list (for states that claim at least 1 percent of the total number of U.S. survey respondents) and a B-list (almost everyone else). There are 28 states — plus the District of Columbia — on the A-list, and a further 17 states on the B-list. Six states did not make either list: New Hampshire, North Dakota, Montana, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming.
