EC-Council Adds Another Security Certification Option

The EC-Council, vendors of the popular Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification, have launched a new security related designation: Licensed Penetration Tester (LPT). A Licensed Penetration Tester is a professional who is equipped with a License to conduct penetration testing of corporate networks. Candidates must first hold the CEH designation, plus the EC-Council Certified Security Analyst (ECSA) title. The ECSA will be available in mid-January. LPT candidates must also fill out a LPT application, including a criminal background check, agree to the EC-Council Code of Ethics, and attend an LPT workshop. i-Net+ = CIW Associate Only Until End of January

The Certified Internet Webmaster program will continue to grant CIW Associate certification to anyone who has passed CompTIA's i-Net+ exam only until January 31, 2005. All CIW certifications require the CIW Associate as a prerequisite. If you're already i-Net+ certified transferring your certification is a no-brainer. See the CIW Web site for full details.

CompTIA and AIM Developing RFID Certification

The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) and the Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility (AIM Global) announced they are working together to develop a vendor-neutral, multi-dimensional certification program for radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. The discussion is preliminary at this point and no dates have been set for actual exam development and release.

Cisco to Release Revised Routing and Switching Exam

On January 19, 2005 Cisco Systems will release a revised version of the CCIE Routing and Switching written exam. The 2.0 revision incorporates the concepts of Routing and Switches technologies covering Networking and IP fundamentals, Switching, Routing, Quality of Service, WAN, Security fundamentals, Multicast and Enterprise Wireless Mobility fundamentals. Several Cisco Specialist Certifications Retire

According to Cisco's Web site, the Cisco Cable Communications Specialist 1certification will retire on April 22, 2005. The last day to register for the exam ins March 8, 2005. The Cisco Public Access Design Specialist and Cisco Public Access Support Specialist designations were retired on December 2, 2004.

Cisco Launches CCNA Prep Center

Cisco Systems has announced the creation of a CCNA Prep center to help candidates prepare for CCNA certification exams. The CCNA Prep Center includes sample questions, simulations, e-learning modules, labs, tips from CCNA professionals, expert advice, success stories, along with other CCNA resources to help students preparing for CCNA certification exams. Anyone with a Cisco login can access the site. If you don't have a Cisco log in you can get one the first time you visit.
