Certification news regarding updates to the Cisco Service Provider track, Novell's linux certifications, a Zend PHP program update, new SAS exam, CIW reimbursement, IT Architect milestone.
Cisco Revises CCIE Service Provider Track and Announces New Beta
As of October 2, 2006, a new, comprehensive CCIE Service Provider written exam will be introduced. This exam will be in beta for $50 August 1, 2006 through August 29, 2006. Eventually this comprehensive exam will replace the eight written exams currently offered as qualification for the CCIE SP lab exam. Also, as of October 1, 2006, CCIE Service Provider candidates will be expected to be familiar with Cisco Series 7200 routers.
Novell To Update CLP and CLE Programs for SUSE Enterprise 10
Novell will be updating its Certified Linux Professional and Certified Linux Engineer programs in early August to reflect content consistent with SUSE Linux Enterprise 10. The revised programs will have updated practicum exams.
SAS Base Programming exam for SAS9 Now Available
The SAS Certified Professional Program is excited to announce the release of the SAS Base Programming for SAS9 exam. This exam tests a candidate's knowledge of SAS programming essentials and functionality within SAS9 software. This exam is required to earn the SAS Certified Base Programmer for SAS9 credential. Zend Releases Certification for PHP5
Zend has announced the impending release of a new Zend Certified Engineer certification exam covering PHP5. The exam is slated for release in August 2006. The current PHP4 exam will remain available for at least one month after the launch of the new exam.
CIW Exams Receive Approval For Reimbursement by VA
US veterans can now use their Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) education benefits to cover CIW (Certified Internet Web Professional) examination fees for 12 various CIW certification exams. These benefits are effective retroactively to June 1, 2005. Eligible veterans can submit proof of their exam results and fee payment to the VA for reimbursement of the CIW exam fees, currently $125 per exam. Eligibility applies regardless of the number of exams taken or retaken, and includes exams taken for certification renewal and those taken in foreign countries. Open Group IT Architect Certification Reaches New Milestone
The Open Group has recently announced that over 1200 individuals have now achieved IT Architect Certification (ITAC). The Open Group also runs the TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) certification. Both of these designations are vendor neutral.
